Camp daydreams fishing program 2024

We are raising money to support the camp Daydreams fishing program!!!! All proceeds go to the program and making sure the campers have an excellent experience!!!

I have been running the fishing program at camp daydreams since 2017, this is a residential camp based out of Rochester NY and the boys and girls club on Genesee Street on the west side of the city. we have the kids at camp for a week. we utilize camp cutler in Naples NY which is owned by the Otetiana council (boy scouts) .

I started fishing as a youth at the age of nine at camp naCOAra a summer camp in upstate NY, founded by George Huther. I was taught by himself, Fred Jackson and ray hoberg. (as pictured above) the essentials of fishing. these men put the love of the sport in me and I carried it thru life, in Florida I fished in the famous loop in Volusia County at three am, until I heard noises in the woods lol. my father-in-law encouraged me to fish down there and I caught my first brackish water fish on John Anderson drive behind a house on the river.

I have been working with at risk and inner-city youth since I was seventeen and I turn forty-four this year right after camp. my number is eight, four plus four is eight. I plan to make this an outstanding year at camp and really show these kids a good time.

camp is life, we all take off from work to go into the woods and volunteer our time with kids and show them another aspect of life that is important to become familiar with no matter where you come from. our camp director johnny mac is an incredible leader and founder and we stand behind his DREAM.

the fishing program is a big hit at camp starting with early morning anglers at 630 am. all the kids who come to early morning anglers every day it is offered get a medal at the end of the week in our ever so famous camp awards ceremony / talent show.

fishing commences throughout the day starting at 10 am and running every hour until before dinner excusing lunch of course . we have about 110 kids more at times at camp and every one of them loves to fish. we use the funds raised to get bait, supplies such as lures, nets, night time lights, cover from the sun, and other various things that go into running the week at lake wellington.

for the last few years we have ordered trophies from a major company online that we award to the youth at the end of the week at our awards ceremony. one of the awards now includes the prestigious " GEORGE HUTHER " award. this award is given to the kid that purely exemplifies what fishing and fishing at a summer camp with other kids is all about.

we also purchase prizes that we give away throughout the periods to kids who stand out and or show progress in a certain area. these prizes are things from camping supplies to flashlights to clothing items to even shoes we have given out a new pair of vans a young girl chose.

my team takes a picture of every kid who catches a fish and those pictures are posted in the dining hall.

myself fishin dre, fishin black and poppa wes run the fishing hole with precision and LOVE.

AS ALWAYS ALL FUNDS RAISED GO TO THE FISHING PROGRAM. we love making the best possible experience for the kids of camp daydreams and often staff.

currently the camp BASSMASTER is 12 year old "young tekka" he caught a four and half pound largemouth out of the lake all by himself. the year before he caught one not much smaller and this kid has a gift.

i personally from the bottom of my heart thank you for the support and love you have given to the program year after year even during covid.
