CAMP Giant Steps 2017

CAMP Giant Steps offers an enriching summer camp experience for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Every summer our non-for-profit camp serves over seventy-five children, ages 3-21, from the greater Saint Louis Metropolitan area and Illinois. CAMP Giant Steps is uniquely equipped to grant access to children with autism whose behaviors might otherwise exclude them from similar experiences. We provide 1:1 support from trained staff who help our campers participate in a variety of activities such as music, art, cooking, and sports. In addition, CAMP Giant Steps is committed to bringing our campers into the greater community through daily afternoon field trips. Campers visit the Saint Louis Zoo, Grant’s Farm, the Saint Louis Science Center, and the Botanical Gardens to name a few. They engage in exciting activities such as bowling, gymnastics, and swimming, some for the very first time!

 

For the last decade CAMP Giant Steps has offered generous scholarships to its campers. This year funding sources have made this impossible. As of now we know of two CAMPERS who would will not be able to attend without funding assistance. We are dedicated in our mission to provide access, opportunities, and unwavering support to this underserved population of students. Donations from this campaign will help fund our transportation costs, field trip fees and scholarships which total $27,500 for the summer. Your generous donation, however small will help ensure that we at CAMP Giant Steps  can continue to provide this valuable experience to the many deserving children we serve.
