Camp Rise n' Shine 2019!

With your kind support, this August, 40 kids ages 5-16 as well as 24 volunteers, many of whom are former campers, will join together for four magical days on the shores of Lake Wenatchee. Together we will laugh, play, cry, and celebrate the gift that is Camp Rise n’ Shine; a home away from home and a second family where children and teens who struggle with acceptance in their communities have a place of support and love.
Our Story:
In 1988 Janet L. Trinkaus dreamed of a place where children affected by HIV could have a safe, loving, compassionate space where they could express the feelings they had to hide from the rest of the world. She realized that dream by founding Rise n’ Shine, a nonprofit that enriched the lives of not only the children it supported, but also their families and the volunteers that were drawn to help. Over the years Rise n’ Shine’s community and impact grew to include other children and teens who needed the same quality support and compassion, eventually changing the name to Inspire Youth Project and partnering with groups like Childhaven to reach more children in need.
One of the crowning jewels of Rise n’ Shine was the annual summer camp. A camp where kids could not only be immersed in a loving and supportive environment, but also be around peers who understood where they were coming from; where there was no fear that opening up would lead to being judged or ostracized, and, most importantly, a place to let go and HAVE FUN!
Now over 30 years later, Janet and the organization she founded are no longer with us, but the need still exists and the spirit of her dream lives on. Through the hard work of a dedicated group of volunteers that include former Rise n’ Shine staff members, long time volunteers and former Rise n’ Shine kids turned volunteers, and the support of the Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp, Camp Rise n’ Shine 2019 is a reality!!!
The Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp, Camp Rise n’ Shine’s home since 1995, is welcoming us back for a third year under their umbrella. All we need now is to cover the expenses involved in putting on camp. This year camp will cost $22,000. Thanks to the generous support of multiple local groups we are receiving grant funding to cover the majority of the costs associated with camp but we still need your help to reach the total needed so every kid can have a wonderful time at camp!
We deeply appreciate your support!
