Campaign To Assist Rachel Pollack
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Rachel Pollack is in Hospice and her partner Zoe requires supplemental support to take care of her at home. While home health care is available through Hospice, it is only for a few hours a day. We are raising money so that Rachel is able to have more hours of home health care--and Zoe can get a break.
Rachel has occupied many worlds; distinguished professor at Goddard College, award winning author, brilliant guide through ancient architectural sites in Athens and Delphi; diviner of the Tarot; close reader of Bugs Bunny and Odysseus. Her creative intellect is a force and an inspiration. As a living example to her students she has set the bar very high; urging all of us to be critical, radical, playful and rational, and above all demanding we live ethical, meaningful lives. Even from her hospital bed last month Rachel was eager to read new things and listen to stories and engage with ideas.
Rachel Pollack has spent her life giving to others, now we get a chance to give back. Please consider making a donation.

Hello Friends-
Rachel just posted this note to her Facebook page and I thought her words should also live here.
"Big shock yesterday. I went for my 4th chemo treatment, thinking, yay, only 2 more after this. I said that to the nurse, who got a Concerned Look, and said that she was pretty sure it was 6 cycles, not 6 treatments. Each cycle is two treatments. I got the doctor in to confirm this. Both Zoe (who goes with me to all my appointments) and I remember firmly that this was never explained to us, that all we heard was 6 times. i was so looking forward to having this done!! Now, if all goes well, I will not finish until August 15, two days before my 70th birthday.
I am telling myself it will be a great birthday present, but I had fantasized being healthy enough to do something special. But of course if I am cancer-free for my birthday, as I have strong hopes of being, that will indeed by the best. And I also am telling myself that this is one time where that old saying, "It is what it is," really applies. I also did a ritual last night to honor and give thanks to the goddesses and gods who have carried me so far, and to honor and give thanks on the spiritual level to all of you, for your love and your encouragement. You cannot know how much this has meant to me.
This extension also means that the Fund Drive my students set up for me is now more important than ever, as I will remain curtailed in my work for much longer than I thought (especially workshops, but also large writing or editing projects). Though I have health insurance, thank godde, the co-pays still run into the thousands (two week-long hospital stays, ten or so expensive tests, medicine, doctor appointments, chemo, and on and on). And of course, insurance doesn't cover supplements, alternative treatments, etc The winter also cost a couple thousand dollars (excess heating bills, some house repairs). I won't go further, except to say how grateful I am, each time some large bill comes up, to all of you who have contributed and/or shared the posts and links."
-Rachel.
Dear Friends,
Rachel Pollack; author, professor, friend, genius, tarot master, has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma.
Living with cancer can be expensive, even with health insurance. Because Rachel is too sick to work, she needs help paying medical and living expenses. Anyone that has known anyone with cancer knows how expensive even the most basic care and medication can be.
Rachel Pollack has spent her life giving to others, now we get a chance to give back. Please consider making a donation, or monthly donations to cover her expenses during this illness. (Go Fund Me allows for automatic monthly payments and I encourage you to chose this option)
