Camps International - Borneo 2024

Hello, my name is Joe Lister and I am 16 years old.

I am raising money for my 4-week Borneo Trek Expedition in the summer of 2024, hosted by Camps International.

During this time, I will be:

Getting stuck into vital community project work

Taking part in environmental project work,

Trekking through the heart of the Bornean rainforest

Visiting the famous Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary

Borneo is situated in Southeast Asia. It is the third-largest island in the world and is home to one of the oldest rainforests at an estimated 130 million years old. Furthermore, it is one of the only two places where you can find orangutans in the wild.

During my 4-week expedition, I will be doing some community project work, such as helping to build classrooms, constructing and refurbishing community buildings and installing water storage systems. I will also be spending 4-days trekking through villages, farmland and the deep Bornean jungle. Finally, I will be learning about the challenges orangutans face as an endangered species and helping to improve their habitat.

I am really excited to be going on this expedition as it gives me an opportunity to help make a difference in people's lives, immerse myself in the culture and languages of others, as well as give me a once in a lifetime experience!
