Haran's Camps International Peru Sacred Valley 2025

Hi, my name is Haran, I'm 14 years old and raising money for my trip to Peru. Peru has an outstandingly diverse culture and fascinating history, from the mighty Incas and the wondrous Nazcan lines to the integration of centuries of Spanish colonial rule.

We can’t let the marvellous and ancient heritage of countries like Peru disappear into astounding poverty, deforestation, and neglect. The Amazon rainforest thrives in Peru, or at least it tries to. Deforestation takes place at an astonishing rate to clear land for agriculture, in particular cattle, which are grown at an insane commercial level in appalling conditions.

I’m not travelling to Peru not just out of interest or curiosity, but I am fascinated by its culture and heritage and how proud Peruvians must be to be able to identify with it. Peruvians are doing their best to preserve their heritage with limited resources so as an outsider, I want to learn and help them as much as possible.

Some of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals are to reduce inequalities and to develop industry, innovation and infrastructure. Above all is to abolish poverty. Here is a golden opportunity to help achieve this.

In Peru me and some others will be working with local charities to help improve conditions for those living in neglect, as well as planting trees in the rural areas, because that is where help is needed the most. It will be a rare chance for us to experience village life and communicate with them. We will understand the diverse culture, traditions and most importantly the experiences of the people who are living there, which would leave us as more whole citizens. It is my personal belief that a visit to other countries like Peru would not only help Peru but also us here in UK to not discriminate and instead learn from other cultures.
