Cam's Top Surgery and Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Cam :D I am a trans non-binary human (they/he), and I've been lucky enough to get approved for top reconstructive surgery at the end of January. That being said, I have to come up with 3500$ by the 21st of January, so I have created this GoFund Me page to raise money to help pay.
This surgery is something that is extremely important to me. I've spent the majority of my life never feeling quite comfortable in my own skin, and never being able to understand why. I knew that I liked girls, but the term "lesbian" never felt right. I always dressed in baggier clothing, and preferred when people treated me like a boy or thought I was a boy. I couldn't explain why I hated, hated, HATED being forced to wear dresses to weddings or other formal events. Now that I'm an adult and am able to identify in the way that I feel is right for me, I've realized that my chest plays a huge part in my gender dysphoria. Not only is it effing huge, it's also part of why I keep being misgendered by people in my literal everyday life. It's the only part of my body that people can see that doesn't fit the "typical" male body, and I need to have that changed for me to finally feel like I actually belong in the body I have.
Reconstructive Top Surgery is a type of breast removal procedure that involves removing all breast tissue and fat as well as contouring the chest to make it more masculine. It's a common procedure for people who identify as transgender and/or non-binary.
The recovery period is 6-8 weeks on average, with a minimum of two weeks following the surgery of just straight up rest. These funds will be helping to pay for the cost of surgery, as well as the two weeks that I will be unable to work following the procedure.
Even if you can't give money, sharing this link with other people and on social media is anther extremely helpful and wonderful way to show your support of me, as well as the trans community!
My situation is fairly urgent, as I wasn't expecting to be on the table until close to the spring/summer seasons. I only found out about a week ago or so that I would need to have this money to pay on the day of my surgery and there is no payment plan available to break up the amount of money that I need to have. I'm also a student, so I'm barely financially stable as it is. I am paying for my education out of my own pockets and don't have financial support from my parents, so any money I make goes towards my education, rent, food, etc.
If anyone is able and willing to donate their hard earned money, I would be eternally grateful, and will be sending letters to everyone who donates as a personal thank you!
