camtrapR development and support
Donation protected
camtrapR is a free and open-source software package in the R language. It is used for managing camera trapping data from wildlife studies and is widely used in wildlife research and conservation all over the globe.
As the package maintainer and moderator of the camtrapR Google group, I spend many hours of unpaid work every month on development and support for camtrapR.
Your donation helps me:
- continue developing camtrapR, keeping it fresh and always improving
- release updates and bugfixes on CRAN
- develop new functions to do even more with your data
- promptly answer your questions in the Google group
- keep up the spirit and better serve the camera trapping community
More specifically, I am planning to add the following major features as a first step:
- multi-season model input (for unmarked and secr)
- temporal independence filter for existing record tables
- restoring corrupted date/time metadata tags using optical character recognition (reading from data fields in image)
- parallel processing for improved performance
Depending on the progess of the campaign I'll be happy to add more features as per your request.
Regardless of whether or not you choose to donate, I feel deeply grateful for the camtrapR user community that has grown over the years. It means a lot to me to have contributed something helpful to your work lives. And I am glad camtrapR contributed to studying the world's fantastic wildlife and saved countless hours of user's time.
Thank you for visiting and have a great day!
