Your help is needed to expand New Castle County's first and only barrier-free playground!
In July , the Can-Do Playground in Wilmington, DE celebrated its 10th anniversary. This playground, which benefits children of all abilities, was built through the efforts of Wilmington Area Rotary Clubs. Rotary is celebrating this milestone with an expansion and update to the playground. Funds are needed to purchase and install new equipment as well as upgrade existing equipment.
The new nature-themed educational equipment will have interactive sensory features to improve the play experience for children with intellectual disabilities and will expand the playground's footprint by 5,000 square feet. Existing swings will be replaced with new "expression" swings. The expression swings feature a face-to-face design to promote intergenerational play. Over twenty pieces of equipment are needed to complete the project, as well as the purchase of additional picnic tables and benches to make the time spent at the playground even more enjoyable.
The Can-Do Playground is one of the most visited parks in the state of Delaware because it truly is a "barrier-free" playground, where all children of all abilities can play together. Please help us reach our goal to expand the Can-Do Playground!
