I hate to admit it, but I need some temporary assistance.
I have Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, and I have undergone the necessary surgeries (3) and treatments and there is nothing more to be done at this point.
Since the American Cancer Society has little to no funding or grants for men, I have accepted their recommendation and applied for Disability. But SSI takes a while for approval – usually 3 to 6 months, but I have heard rumors that they process the claims of the terminally ill a bit quicker. Let’s hope that is the case in my instance!
I have not worked steadily for the past 2 years and have gone through all savings and have sold (or am selling) anything I have of value. And I can no longer rely on the compassion of my friends, who have carried me this far.
I need to accumulate enough money to pay rent and utilities for the next few months, hopefully only three months. Without this assistance, I will have to give up my apartment and my possessions, with no plan concerning where I will go.
Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated. It will allow me to live in my own apartment and maintain some sense of self-worth until I am approved for Disability and can once again be independent.
