Can you spare some for Sagan?

On October 31st, Sagan needed to be rushed to the emergency vet as she was extremely lethargic, struggling to stand and unable to eat. After countless diagnostic tests, she needed a life-saving blood transfusion, as her red blood cell count was extremely low. Sagan was suffering from severe anemia in addition to liver failure. She’s currently under observation and may need an additional transfusion while hospitalized. The cause of Sagan’s sudden illness is still being determined. Until her test results return, the veterinarian is hesitant to give us a clear idea about her chance of full recovery. Her red blood cell count is struggling to stabilize, but we’re hoping the treatment will continue to work with the slight improvement they’ve seen.
To anyone who knows Mike, Sagan is almost constantly by his side. Since the first time she jumped into his car out of the blue they’ve been out on the roads, on the trails, or out hanging around town living life. There’s never a person that Sagan doesn’t rush up to greet with her charming enthusiasm. Her positive energy is contagious among us.
This unexpected emergency has been overwhelming, and both Mike and Sagan could use a helping hand. Sagan’s veterinarian bill has already surpassed $7,800, and it’s expected to rise as her complete treatment plan gets worked out. We’re still unsure what the cause of her illness is, but we know that she will need immune suppressant drugs to support her body once the blood transfusions are complete.
Sagan may not have much bark in her (right now), but she’s a fighter. Anything you can contribute to help Sagan continue the treatment she’s receiving, heal and recuperate is greatly appreciated. We’ll share updates on Sagan’s battle, and please share this so that the word spreads.
