Canada's Great Lakes Crossing for Mental Health
Donation protected
For the first time in history, a person with a disability will paddleboard across international waters. Mike Shoreman is a Toronto-born career paddleboarder based in Whitby, Ontario. He is a mental health and disability advocate and has partnered with Jack.org for several years, hosting various events for youth mental health. The data is clear about the impact the pandemic has had on the mental health of our youth. Thus, Mike created Canada's Great Lakes Crossing, a fundraising event supporting Jack.org, Canada’s only charity training and empowering young people to revolutionize mental health in every province and territory. Through Jack Talks, Chapters and Summits, young leaders identify and dismantle barriers to positive mental health in their communities. And through Be There, Jack.org gives young people the mental health resources to support their peers through a mental health struggle.
Here's what you need to know. All the money from this GoFundMe page goes to Mike and his crew to continue the event across the Great Lakes this summer.
Donors to this GoFundMe page will not be eligible for a tax receipt as their dollars will go to cover all the operational costs (safety boats, crew, fuel, gear, promotion, etc) of this event. There is a small transaction fee per donation that is paid to GoFundMe when funds are withdrawn but don't let this deter you. You can also drop off gift cards, cash, cheques at Eat My Shortbread, Oshawa, ON if you prefer.
Are you a business looking to become an official event sponsor? You can view the sponsorship levels and their corresponding benefits here. Sponsors that give through this Go Fund Me page will be helping to cover operational costs and receive benefits according to their sponsorship level and will not be eligible for a tax receipt. If you would prefer to give by cheque or EFT, please contact the Jack.org team directly.
If you would like to donate directly to Jack.org’s mission, you can do so through Mike’s official Great Lakes Crossing donation page. You will be eligible for a tax receipt for donations of $10 CAD and greater.
Whichever way you choose to be a part of this, a very sincere thank you for being a very important part of Mike Shoreman's Canada's Great Lakes Crossing!
