Canadian hockey coach hit by car in China

Donation protected
Anyone who knows Justin Isaac knows he's a remarkable guy on and off the ice.  His passion for hockey shines through  everywhere he goes initially playing ice hockey for the Peninsula Panthers. After his junior career was over he moved onto coaching--peewee, bantam and midget level hockey for eight years, giving back to the community and the sport he knows so well.

Justin's passion for coaching was so well known and revered he was offered a job coaching overseas in Beijing at Kaiwen Academy. Justin accepted the offer, and in February 2018, packed up and moved his life to China to pass along his invaluable knowledge to young Chinese children learning the fundamentals of hockey. He has developed strong bonds with these athletes and the parents alike overcoming the cultural diversity and a major language barrier!

Justin was struck by a car in Beijing last Thursday suffering two compound fractures in his leg as well as a serious concussion.

He is currently in China recovering in a hospital with one of two surgeries completed. His older brother Jared Isaac has flown to be with him and his mother is en route.  Justin has received an outpouring of love and support from the parents, kids and staff members of Kaiwen Academy. The kids have made cards and videos and the staff have been visiting him bringing food and drinks every day making sure he is comfortable and doing well. Since being in the hospital the support he has received from Kaiwen and everyone in Beijing has really helped keep him positive after this terrible accident.

We are hoping to raise funds to cover the travel costs to get him home before Christmas for his second and most crucial surgery here on Canadian soil. Justin will need to be in business class with Air Canada on his flight home so he can have his leg supported and elevated with his mother next to him. As well as rehab, recovery and loss of wages. It will be months before he is able to walk again and many more for the physio and rehabilitation.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated by Justin and his family. Thank-you.
