Cancer Benefit for Steve & Michelle Plunk

Steve overcame Stage 3 colon cancer in May 2014 and was then diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer in Dec 2017.

After 51 successful chemo treatments, Steve’s cancer mutated and begin growing aggressively in August 2020 and was no longer responding to treatment. Since Labor Day 2020, Steve has had 5 admissions to the hospital, for a total of approximately 55 days.

During this time, he has battled multiple antibiotic resistant infections, pneumonia, and continued growth of tumors in both lungs, all of which have prevented him from receiving the new chemo he so desperately needs. In fact, over a 21-day period, a tumor developed in his spine that fractured a vertebrae and is now impeding on his spinal cord.

Michelle has had to take another unpaid LOA, even though she has already completed a 16-week unpaid FMLA due to the pandemic.

They have faced many financial hardships throughout this year and will continue to do so as Steve is discharged home on Hospice care. Unfortunately, moving forward, Michelle will remain on unpaid leave so she can focus on Steve’s health.

As the family moves through this difficult time, we are hoping that this Go Fund Me account will help alleviate some of this added stress. This will allow the family to focus on spending quality time together & allow Steve to regain as much strength as possible.
