Cancer Can't Stop Kevin, But He Needs Your Help

Hello,

Our names are Barry Yao and Alex Liu and we are reaching out to ask for your help on behalf of my dear friend, Kevin Yuanhao Dou. Kevin is a long-time friend of ours and someone who we have had the pleasure of knowing since the summer of 2016. He is a person with a glowing soul and it has been an honor to call him our friend.

Kevin is someone who cares deeply about the people around him, as well as the world we live in. From politics to natural sciences, he is always eager to learn and grow. We still remember the moments he told me about his internship with the United Nations on a project related to helping refugees in the Middle East. His spirit, philosophy of life, wisdom, and sense of humor have always been an inspiration to those around him.

Unfortunately, Kevin has been facing some family-related struggles that have left him in financial difficulties. His parents are divorced and his father is unreachable. His mother is not financially capable to take care of him. Despite these struggles, Kevin has always been a very independent person who has always strived for self-sustainability. His wisdom and perseverance led him to SMU where he was offered scholarships. He even worked part-time to help support his little brother's education.

In recent months, Kevin was diagnosed with thymoma, initially at stage I. After 14 weeks of radiational therapy, the treatment was ineffective and cancer has developed into stage IIa. Kevin requires resectioning surgery to prevent further development. He has exhausted his financial resources and is unable to pay for the surgery on his own.

We are reaching out to ask for your help in raising funds for Kevin's surgery. Any amount helps and we are grateful for any support that can be provided.
