quick update: 2/23/24 Amy and Derek are doing well. The “difficult” batch of chemotherapy regimen has been administered successfully. Other than a few sick days here and there, the patient and family are doing well.

quick update 1/8/24 Amy and Derek are doing well. The tumor has decreased in size and other than a couple rough days here and there, things are looking steady!

Quick update 11/18

Amy and Derek are holding ground and staying strong fighting the good fight. All things considered, things are going well for Amy, the first round of procedures have been administered and the outcome so far has stayed positive.

Amy and Derek have received many generous donations, and appreciate them greatly. They are establishing protocols and processes and appreciate the kind words and gestures/donations. Overall, things are going as well as can be expected, no major issues yet but please check back!

Salutations:

My name is Doug and I am writing to raise funds, raise awareness and educate. Recently a very close friend of mine, called with a heavy heart and shared the news with me; his wife has breast cancer.

Derek, a friend of over 30 years, dedicated father, compassionate and selfless friend, brother, husband and gifted Chef was strong and already had his plan in place for his family.

The Jackson family is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where Derek and I were roomates at Western Michigan University years earlier.

Derek and Amy met in the hospitality industry and they blossomed into a couple radiating their combined compassion, kindness, honesty, thoughtfulness, and hardworking attitude that continues to illuminate all those around them.

They have shared interests including: music/concerts, food, community, sports, nature, and reading. Amy and Derek are avid animal lovers, rescuing dogs and raising them well.

Being in their late 30's and early 40's a diagnosis like this could derail their life but Amy, a mother, and her supportive husband Derek are determined to move forward. Combined with our help, their supportive families and friends, we can make a difference in this troubling time.

Childcare, nutrition, medical bills, transportation, utilities, daily living expenses such as fuel, food, and medicine, pet care, bills and education related expenses are what we are focusing on most. Being young responsible homeowners and full time workers, and wonderful and contributing members to the Kalamazoo community, Amy and Derek and their children are a staple of the community that are well worth supporting
