Helping Chris Tyler Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Amanda Biella from Rocky Hill, CT and I am creating this medical campaign
for my brother in law Chris Tyler. Chris was diagnosed with an aggressive
form of brain cancer in 2015. Brittany and Chris's son Brayden was 8 months old
when Chris was diagnosed. Chris went through his first brain surgery and 30
rounds of radiation with strength and positivity.

Then, about 6 months later Chris and Brittany heard the devastating words "your tumor has returned".  Chris then tried a chemo for 6 months which
did not stop the tumor growth. In 2016 Chris went for his 2nd brain surgery
followed by heavier doses of radiation for 33 days. This required traveling back
and forth to Boston everyday where he currently receives his medical care.

About a year later Chris's tumor grew back in a different location. He required a third brain surgery and more rounds of radiation.

Chris and Brittany have been together since age 14 and 15. They are true
high school sweet hearts. I have never seen a love like the love they have
for each other.  They have faced many obstacles but still push through with
perseverance despite what comes their way. Chris and Brittany were not done
completing their family and wanted a sibling for Brayden. Due to the toxic effect of Chris's treatments they were forced to conceive through IVF therapy.
They still had hope they could beat this and a future as a family still looked bright.

Soon after Declan was born Chris required his 4th brain surgery. With this
surgery Chris acquired massive bilateral lung clots which nearly took his life.

Next, a few months later Chris's oncologist told Chris  "You have six months
to live". After hearing this Brittany and Chris have been heartbroken but  they
still fight for their life together and are the best parents they can possibly be.

In the next attempt to fight off this tumor Chris tried immunotherapy combined with targeted therapy treatment.  These treatments left him with permanent
side effects. He has an aggressive form of diabetes caused by the immunotherapy.
The targeted therapy drug caused his lungs to harden, making it hard
to breathe. He also has Addison's Disease and thyroid issues caused by these
treatments. Chris had to stop these medications due to the harsh nature of
the side effects.

In January 2017 Chris went on to have his 5th brain surgery followed by more radiation. He also had heavy dose radiation to a nearby tumor that was not removed at that time since it was on the opposite side of the brain.

Chris went on to have his 6th brain surgery in Jan. 2020.  This time they
tried something different. They removed the tumor and placed in 70 radio active seeds in the bed of the tumor.  In March 2020 Chris started getting fevers, severe headaches, and one side of his body went limp. He was diagnosed with a brain infection and had to have half of his skull removed for six weeks. This was all happening  during
Covid hospital visitor  restrictions and Brittany could not be by his side. An ICU doctor called Brit to
tell her he had a 106 fever and things were looking "grim". Brittany thought she
was going to lose him this time. Her heart was shattered for the boys and her. But once again Chris pulled through fighting for his two sweet boys and his wife.

In March 2020 we found out Chris's tumor on the opposite side of his brain  was growing and needed to come out. He had it removed and they put down more radiation seeds.  He also  had a synthetic skull made and placed on the opposite side.
When Chris woke up from these two  surgeries he no longer had function in his limbs.
He was sent to Spaulding rehab in Boston where he had to learn how to walk again. He spent 6 weeks at this facility.

This October 2020 we were shocked to hear  so suddenly Chris had a few tumors come back. He went in for surgery on November 3rd. Currently Chris may be
facing another brain infection. He is on antibiotics and doctors are monitoring him closely.

The amount of suffering and pain Chris has gone through while being a young
father is indescribable. Chris never thought of getting life insurance or never thought of needing it at the young healthy age of 27. It is a great fear of his that if something happens to him he knows it would be extremely difficult and a financial burden for his wife to work full time and  raise their two young boys. Chris's main focus is his family. He loves his children and wife so much.  Medical bills have been adding up for them. Brittany is Chris's full time caregiver and she works as a registered nurse when she can. She takes care of Chris with all heart along with my precious nephews age 2 and 5.   Please show Chris the support and love that he needs right now.

Donations will be used towards medical bills and to help support the Tyler family during this difficult time.

About Chris: Chris was super healthy before his diagnosis . He is a hardworking, devoted, loving father and husband. He grew up in Rocky Hill CT where he met Brittany.
Chris went on to play Division 1 football at Stony Brook University. Chris and Brit share the most amazing high school and college memories together. Chris and Brit got married in 2013 with dream of starting a family.
Chris is a fighter like no other and he has been through so much. We love him
more than anything. #TEAMCHRIS
