Many of you have read the articles or seen the news clips about Andrew's baseball no-hitter, dedicated to his Dad with cancer whose hits keep coming! Ironic, isn't it?
You have asked about ways in which you can help, so this GoFundMe page
is set-up to help offset Justin's medical expenses and to help with Andrew's college aspirations. Both are needed.

Let's rally for the Cito family!
Much love and gratitude.

Father who lost vision due to cancer feels joy of son's epic no-hitter

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A no-hitter is a great -- and rare -- achievement for a professional baseball player.

So when a Monrovia High School pitcher accomplished the unthinkable, it's a pretty big deal. But there's much more behind this triumph.

Love, perseverance, and family
Baseball has been a huge part of Andrew Cito's life. His father, Justin Cito, enrolled him in Little League when he was young, creating a special baseball bond between a father and son.

So when Andrew threw a no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over Glendale Friday, it was everything he could ever imagine.

"I didn't really feel it. It was a real surreal moment," said the Monrovia High School senior.

His father had a feeling something happened, but he couldn't physically witness it due to his eyesight. Justin has been fighting cancer and lost his vision due to the disease.

The father wasn't able to make it to his son's games since last year due to his cancer battle, but was present for Andrew's big moment.

"I'm very happy for my son ... so proud of him," he said.

While he wasn't able to see the play, Justin had his own father - grandpa Cito - next to him, giving him a play-by-play of all the action.

"It's been a very emotional time for [Justin's ] dad," said Andrew's mother, Renee Cito. "He lost his wife to cancer also. That day, to watch his grandson, who loves the sport, pitch a no-hitter, I think was probably the greatest day of his life. A lot of things came together that day."

Looking to the future
Andrew plans on attending California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo and is keeping his options open to more than just baseball.

For now, the young star athlete just wants to spend as much time with his family with what's left of the season and after his epic moment.

"It was pretty great," he said. "I really didn't think about it until after the game. I went up and talked to my dad through the fence and shook his hand, and it was really emotional."

"I'm very proud of my son," said Justin. "The sky is the limit with whatever he chooses to do in life, and that makes me happy!
