Cancer messed with the wrong #papassquad- Mark V.

As most of you know, our dad was diagnosed with Plasma Blastic Multiple Myeloma, a rare aggressive form of Multiple Myeloma in 2018. Since diagnosis, he has endured several different rounds of chemotherapy and eventually had a stem cell transplant in Summer 2019. While continuing to receive chemotherapy, dad had a routine check up and found out his cancer was active (less than a year post transplant). Doctors knew they needed to act fast and did, today 4/22/20, dad started a new chemo (which we were told was a dangerous combination of a few chemo drugs). Well after about 30 minutes of an 8 hour infusion, dad had a bad reaction and struggled to breath. Chemo had to be stopped immediately and he was rushed to ICU where doctors were able to stabilize him. At this time, we don’t know next steps and he will be following up with his care team. Insurance has been an issue through all of this and of course medical bills are piling up. As most of you know our dad doesn’t like to ask for help but in this time he needs help, support and lots of prayers. Unfortunately his insurance will only allow him to go certain places and we had to fight hard to get approval for Mayo (which is one of the only clinics in MN that has seen and treated his form of cancer). Help us get our dad back to Mayo to receive the care he needs and deserves!
