The Hurricane Bob Travers Cancer Fund
If you have ever met our dad Hurricane Bob Travers, you know him as a charismatic, talented man with a zest for life and for his ability to bring down the house playing his signature Fender Stratocaster on stage. You would not be surprised to learn, then, that after receiving his Stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Bob remains positive and determined to fight this battle no matter the odds.
Bob’s cancer has metastasized to his bones and produced a tumor that is shutting down his left kidney. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy through pills and injections and is responding incredibly well to treatment. So well, in fact, that he is able to remain active in his passions for golfing and motorcycling, although of course his drive and determination plays a major role in this. His doctors are providing excellent care and although they have diagnosed his cancer as terminal, they are unsure of how long his medications will allow him to remain in stable condition. His medical costs will include these medications, exam fees, transportation, regular testing and imaging, and potentially surgery if the tumor increases in size.
We are initiating this Go Fund Me to provide our dad first and foremost with the support he needs to access his treatments and have the best care possible, but also we want to help him relax and enjoy the time he has left with his family and friends. As a lifelong musician, one of his goals is to both record and perform with us, his sons Eric and Kyle Travers. He also wants to spend as much time as possible with his 8 year old grandson, Jack Travers.
The Travers family considers itself supremely fortunate to have such a vast and devoted network, of family, friends, and fans. To everyone who has and will offer us their support during this trying situation, we are forever grateful.
