Tracy's Cancer Journey (cont'd).
Donation protected
On August 2, Doctors at INOVA Alexandria diagnosed Tracy with Cancer.
Tracy never slows down. So, when she started feeling fatigued, nauseas, and generally unwell, she shrugged it off. Despite the pain and exhaustion, she kept working her three jobs until she finally sought help at the emergency room.
After scolding her for not immediately calling 911, the medical team there gave her the shocking news that her symptoms were caused by complications related to ovarian cancer. They put her in the Intensive Care Unit for three days. After they stabilized her condition and performed a litany of different tests, they sent her home to wait for more details. This is what we know so far:
- She will be scheduled for a major surgery in the near future.
- She will also be prescribed several rounds chemotherapy, either before or after the surgery.
- She won't be able to resume her normal work schedule anytime soon.
- She's still struggling with everyday tasks, like driving, cooking, sleeping, or laundry.
While Tracy has lots of questions about what this means for her future, we do know that this is going to be a hard road ahead and we're going to be there for Tracy, one step at a time. This GoFundMe is intended to help her focus on the important work of focusing her energy on taking care of her health. In the meantime, those of us who care about her can help by ensuring her basic needs are met, so she isn't worried about paying her bills or rent while she's fighting a life-threatening illness.
What is this money intended for? For the time period that Tracy won't be able to work her regular hours or perform basic daily tasks, the money will be used to supplement her income and purchase the items or services she'll need for recovery; specifically:
- Rent for the months of August and September;
- Ensuring she can pay for basic necessities and bills, such as food, insurance, utilities etc.;
- Medical supplies and wellness items not covered by her health insurance, like shower chairs;
- Getting help where she needs it, such as grocery delivery or Ubers.
Would you prefer to help with in-kind assistance, such as food, help around the house, rides, or specific items needed? We hope to set up alternative platforms soon, possibly including a lotsahelpinghands or similar. Stay tuned!
