Cancer Sucks-fundraiser for Johnny Abbott

Char and Johnny Abbott are experiencing many unplanned expenses, and now loss of income, due to Johnny’s recently diagnosed bladder cancer, upcoming bladder removal surgery, and recent coronary bypass surgery to repair an issue found in his bladder pre-operative physical. While their faith is strong, they do have fiscal responsibilities of day-to-day life, that need to be taken care of.

Johnny is self-employed but has been unable to work for weeks. He will need several more months to recover from both surgeries. Funds donated will provide much needed replacement income to cover co-pays, deductibles, insurance premiums and recurrent bills previously covered by Johnny’s income.

Char and Johnny Abbott are people who love everyone, regardless of beliefs. They are the kind of folks who show up for everyone! Many have been at the receiving end of their support. These are the kind of people who believe in letting their “yes” hang out. Truly, truly people who live to love and serve others.

Johnny is a blue-collar guy through and through, that loves Jesus as made evident by his example for many years. He’s employed just about all the young men in the family and taught his work ethic to most all of us, as we got our start. He is the kind of man to realize someone needs a leg up and offer just what they need. Johnny is a quiet man, stoic even. To see him hurting and unable to work is an indication of the pain.

With that said, the burden of caretaker and provider has fallen to Char Abbott, Johnny’s wife, who is doing her best to keep the family afloat with her income as a tax preparer. Their burden is heavy, and I know with many hands work can be made light.

It is my hope that through a little help from anyone who feels motivated, we can make this as painless of a process as possible for this family, a family that so readily will show up to help everyone around them.
