Cancer Treatment for Lapis

Donation protected
Hello!

My name is Rhyan, I’m 29 and a struggling dog mom who is desperately trying to help my lovely retired racing greyhound Lapis after a sudden osteosarcoma diagnosis.

Lapis is 8 years old, 9 in December if we get lucky and even luckier if we get longer.

We were fortunate to adopt her from GAGC early in 2020 after she’d raced for 5 years in southern Florida and she’s been the best dog we could ever ask or hope for. An angel on earth, if we are being really honest and not just because she’s mine. She’s calm and sweet, adores even strangers no matter how far away she sees them. I’ve never seen her not smile at someone, even our neighbors go out of their way to say hello. She’s been not just mine but the entire apartments emotional support animal for 3 wonderful years.

About a week ago we noticed she’d started to limp on one of her front legs, hoping it was just a pulled muscle from playing too hard or perhaps a tumble getting excited on the stairs. When it hadn’t gotten better we took her to the vet and the news hit us hard when we found out it was bone cancer. Not something we could medicate and would pass like a pulled muscle.

Our money is tight, really tight, so our options are extremely limited without some kind of assistance. So here I am, hoping maybe, with any kindness, I can give this sweet special dog more years she deserves off a racetrack or at least some more comfort until she’s gone.

With donations we can get her leg amputated and do chemotherapy, which will give us a few more blissful years with this sweet girl, maybe even more if we are lucky, she’s in beginning stages still. Without them we have a few months, at best, according to our vet.

Should we not reach our girl any donations will go toward her final months in making her as comfortable as possible and knowing she is loved as well as arrangements after she’s gone to remember her.

For cost details:
Meeting the goal covers the $1000 it will cost for amputation of her left leg where the current cancer has started. The other $2000 is to cover the subsequent chemo treatment that follows which are $500 per treatment, estimations by our vet.

If you can’t donate, even sharing may help in reaching it, even kind words would be worth it.

Thank you for any and all you do

An update: Post surgery

Costs ended up being much higher than anticipated for just the amputation alone so we have increased the goal of the fundraiser. If you aren't able to donate thats okay but shares/prayers do wonders!
