Cancer v. Lawyers

And cancer is losing, but not in a good way. Hello, my name is Barbara (B. J.) and I'm the campaign manager of this GoFundMe account on behalf of my family.

We are struggling with not only health issues and daily expenses, but a nasty legal battle too. My husband, a decorated Vietnam era Navy veteran had brain cancer surgery in November. The stairs in the house were impossible for him and hard for me too. I managed to find single-story living for us but at great expense.

I also assumed responsibility for my Mother's will as executor. It has been a long haul involving hard work on my part and two bad lawyers.

The will was uncontested until two weeks before our court date of March 6 and then my wealthy brother demanded he be reimbursed for our Mother's funeral home expenses. I agreed, but my former lawyer never told him. The hearing was a debacle for us, with Wealthy Brother further demanding his "share" of some sentimental items of no value. The hearing was rescheduled for July and my sniveling lawyer quit!

My brother doesn't care if there are six other heirs in the will including his own son, two other grandchildren, a step-grandson, my Mother's church, and me. It's a small will, no one is getting rich. But we were all counting on our money, and thanks to him, we can't have it. Some of us are suffering; myself from the debt I've accrued because I couldn't access my inheritance. Another family member needed his share in order to buy another house for his family. No, he couldn't have his $ either. I hired a third lawyer, draining our bank accounts again, so we could use help with that, or with daily expenses too.

We're aware many people don't like lawyers, but sometimes, you need to put up with them. Thank you if you can donate!
