Brian’s Journey
The Beginning
In January of 2018 a cyst (otherwise known as a lump) the size of a large marble was noticed on Brian’s neck. The cyst was concerning enough for people close to Brian to convince him that he should visit a doctor. It took many different specialists to find out what the cause of this cyst.
An ear, nose and throat specialist felt that the lump needed to be removed. If the cyst continued to grow it would cause problems with his jugular. To be certain it was not cancerous, they decided to perform a biopsy on the removed cyst.
On June 28th a surgeon at the University of Minnesota Medical Center removed the cyst and discovered several more growing on Brian’s lymph nodes. These cysts were found to be the result of thyroid cancer…. Papillary Thyroid Cancer to be exact.
The good news is that this type of cancer is said to be one of the “most curable”.
The Next Step
On Tuesday July 17th Brian will have a thyroidectomy. What this means is that they will be removing his thyroid. During that process, they will be removing any other lumps or abnormal growths that are found.
The recovery time for this surgery is estimated to be from 3-5 weeks. Until the surgery, it is uncertain whether he will need to undergo radiation therapy.
Why You’re Reading This.
As I’m sure you can all imagine; doctor visits, stays in the hospital, and recovery time left Brian with no other option than to take a temporary leave of absence at his job. He has been a hard working employee of Team industrial Services for over 8 years.
Brian is unable to keep up with the ongoing incoming medical bills and everyday expenses.
If you are comfortable enough in your financial situation to donate, he would be humbled by your generosity and so very thankful for your support. A little goes a long ways when people team up to help someone. Let's show Brian how much the world loves and cares for it's people and get Brian to his goal!
