Candace Kotchey Needs Our Help
Donation protected
Candie Kotchey, proud Mother of Jacob, inspiration to all, and friend to many, who was a pillar of strength, eternal optimist and forever grateful, even in the midst of her devastating disease, was called home to the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2020. Anyone wishing to help out with final expenses, feel free to donate here or directly to Jacob Kotchey.
Candace Kotchey was looking forward to her early retirement when she suffered a broken back and four fractured ribs on 1/19/19 which ultimately led to a diagnosis of multiple myeloma on 8/19/19. She was rushed back to the hospital on 9/6/19 for a septic ruptured bowel, and was told she may not survive the necessary operation, but Candie knew God was not ready to call her home. She was intubated for four days. She was able to have her first chemotherapy treatment on 10/8/19. Then, on 10/15/19, she had emergency surgery for the wound inside her which opened up due to an abscess. When she awoke from that, she was unable to stand or lift her legs as she now had neuropathy from the infection. She was hospitalized for 72 days after another abscess was found in her upper thigh and buttocks region. For that, she had drains put in. She was transferred from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility for therapy and is finally able to stand with the assistance of two people. Eventually, she has gained enough strength to walk short distances with the assistance of a walker and people to help support her. While in rehab, she is attempting steps as she has 10 steps to get up to her apartment.
Candie has basically been bedridden in hospitals/rehabilitation facilities for the past five months, but on and off for over a year when this all began. Candie has not been able to continue her chemotherapy because she has not been strong enough, but hopefully, that will get restarted in the near future. Her approved days of insurance coverage for staying in the rehabilitation facility runs out Tuesday and they will be discharging her from the current facility she is in. Once she is back home, she will have therapists come to her apartment to continue building up her strength and will have to go out to receive the chemotherapy once she is deemed strong enough. To top off all of this, Candie has also been threatened with eviction from her apartment.
Throughout this tragic time, Candie has been faithful and grateful to God as she knows with Him all things are possible. Candie will need help finding caregivers prior to discharge, and once discharged, paying for caregivers once she is home as she needs assistance to ambulate and ensure she does not fall and frankly, for all things. Unfortunately, Candie has no funds to pay for caregivers. Won't you please help with prayers and, if possible, a donation to help Candie pay for the necessary help she needs? All donations will go directly into Candie's account. Thank you so much, and God bless you.
