K9 for Kassie
Donation protected
My name is Kaylee and I am the proud Auntie to a beautiful little girl named Kassidy Marie.
I am putting this together in hopes of raising funds in order to obtain a Service Dog for Kassidy.
Kassidy is 7 years old and has been diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder with an Intellectual Disability. She is non-verbal and speaks only through her beautiful smile.
Autism Service Dogs have been proven to be an asset for children diagnosed with autism and their families. The dogs provide a social "bridge" for children like Kassidy who are often excluded by others because of their lack of social interaction.
Kassidy is quick on her feet and always just a couple too many steps in front of anyone that she is with. Autism Service Dogs are trained to keep children close, safe and always out of harms way. They provide comfort and are ever faithful companions to the children with who they form their bond.
Daily living for Kassidy and her family would be forever changed for the greater by the countless number of ways in which a Service Dog would assist in their lives.
Although there is assistance out there for the familes of autistic children, there is no Government funding for Service Dogs in Canada.
Being that these amazing animals require hundreds upon hundreds of hours of training, boarding, vet bills, government certification, food and ongoing maintenance for the 8-10 years of their lives, there is a large fee which is associated with the application process.
It is my hope and dream that my ever so special Niece will one day be able to have a best friend to bond with and who cares for her a much as we all do.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this, donating, and/or sharing. Please know that in doing so, you are helping change the life of the most deserving little girl and her kind, generous and eternally grateful family.
