Canoe challenge for Steel Bones
2 September 2024 5 days to go
Training is complete. Time to pack the dry bags with plenty of snacks. We are staggered by the amount of support we have had. Steel Bones is a great charity and supports amputees not only by being there to offer emotional support with all the trauma faced by people who loose a limb but they also help with accessing benefits, run social meet ups and organise activities such as gym sessions to promote health and well being.
15 August UPDATE 22 days to go.
We are super proud to have smashed the £1000 mark. Thank you all so much. Training is well underway. We are sharing updates on FB & Instagram. We have all now learnt to steer the canoe. Vital if we don't want to zigzag all the way to Cattawade and end up doing many more miles than we need to. The Sudbury Canoe club have been fantastic and endlessly patient with us. We wouldn't be able to do this fundraiser with out them.

This is a photo from our first training session back in June.

Me learning to paddle the canoe.

Mum and Claire in their canoe. Claire is an above knee amputee like me!
Hi, my name is Scarlett and on the 7th and 8th of September my Mum, Uncle and Me are going to be fundraising for the charity, Steel bones, by Canoeing 22 miles from Sudbury to The Sea. Steel Bones is a really great charity as they have helped me and many others to navigate life as an amputee. It would be amazing to raise some money for them so that they can continue the amazing work they do for amputees across the UK.
