The Worst Day of Our Lives...
We planned to have a nice weekend out of our home state. We took Luna and Tyson to Pier 13 in New Jersey. They walked, they peed, they pooped...everything seemed fine. After about 40mins of being there, Luna vomited. We thought maybe the 2hr car ride in stop and go traffic had upset her stomach. We gave her lots of water and she did not seemed phased. Still accepting pets, walking fast...seeming happy, normal. There was a nice breeze and they spent most of their time sitting in the shade and watching others pass by. After 45mins, Luna was laying, like she always does, she is a very lazy girl..we did not think that was unusual. But she wouldn't get up, she did not want to move. We immediately gave her water. She gulped it down. I told my boyfriend something is very wrong. He ran to get the car that was parked a few blocks away. She dropped her head to the floor into the water bowl. Within a few seconds she rolled over and started actively seizing. My boyfriend grabbed her and we raced to the closest vet. While enroute, she stopped breathing, she was foaming from the mouth, and was completely lifeless. I instructed my boyfriend how to do CPR. The closest vet couldn't do anything for us. They turned us away and made us drive 30miles to the nearest vet hospital. She came to but was very lethargic and was breathing fast. I called the animal hospital enroute to let them know we were coming. Just before pulling in she stopped breathing and I did CPR. We handed her over to the vet. All we can do is wait and pray.
**At the request of so many people that know Luna and know of her, we started a Go-fund me page.
Jay and I want to be 100% transparent with all that come across this page. We do have pet insurance for both Luna and Tyson. We have healthy paws. Her deductible is $250 and her plan is meant for 90% reimbursement minus her $190 emergency exam fee. We do not know exactly what they will and will not reimburse at this time. Her care is ongoing. Every updated bill we will share with you and post pictures.
***If you would like to donate, you have our thanks. But please know that your love, comments, kind words and PRAYERS are what we truly need and want. These things are MOST important, not the money. Any money that is not used will go directly towards a malamute rescue or another malamute baby in medical need.
We will go to the ends of the earth for Luna no matter what the cost as long as she wants to fight.
If at anytime she is in pain or suffering, we will stop treatment and let her go peacefully.
She is our light in the darkness, Our beautiful Moon girl.
