Capital of Equality Float for Sydney Mardi Gras 2025

We are the Capital of Equality, a group of proud and passionate LGBTQIA+ Canberrans, our float beautifully embodies the essence of Canberra. We represent a vibrant community residing in this wonderfully diverse Australian city. With the valued backing of Canberra Frontrunners, renowned for fostering inclusivity and diversity through secure and inviting walks and runs catering to LGBTQIA+ individuals and their supporters, our initiative is gaining momentum. Our float celebrates the diversity of identities within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and the power of the community to come together and champion causes.

Our theme for this year, “Disco Rodeo,” is a vibrant fusion of disco’s high-energy, inclusive atmosphere and the bold, adventurous spirit of the rodeo, celebrating individuality, diversity, and community connections within the LGBTQIA+ community. Participants will wear silver sparkling sequin cowboy/cowgirl/cow-them outfits, symbolising confidence and self-expression. The float will feature a mosaic horse outfits, disco balls, cowboy hats, and rainbow motifs, illuminated with colourful lights and effects.

Our theme “Disco Rodeo” emphasises the importance of unity and support, aligning perfectly with the Sydney Mardi Gras 2025 theme, “Free to Be,” by encouraging everyone to express their true selves and celebrate the rich tapestry of identities within the LGBTQIA+ community. This creative concept will inspire attendants to embrace their true selves and continue the fight for equality, making it a memorable highlight of the parade.
