CAP Cadet Officer School: Help me go!

Donation protected
HELLO friends, family, and others it might concern! This summer I hope to attend a challenging leadership camp with the Civil Air Patrol, called National Cadet Officer School. This is a 10-Day training that will teach me an in-depth of the skills of leadership. The activity will take place during July 29 - August 8, 2014, located in Maxwell AFB, AL. The entire course will be divided between lectures, seminars, and hands-on training. A big variety of top military and industry leaders, will come as guest speakers, some such as Air Force Officers at Air University at Maxwell AFB. Instructors will guide many cadets like me through classes and seminars with the Air Force approach to the psychology of leadership, problem solving techniques, effective writing, speaking, and group dynamics.

The school is so difficult to get in, that it requires cadets to at least have the Mitchell Award, which only about 15% of the 24,000 CAP cadets nationwide and I possess. And out of that 15% only around 120 cadet officers attend NCOS. Attending this school has always be one of my main goals in my CAP career. Therefore after completing this difficult activity I will be a better-rounded leader, with greater leadership knowledge and skills that I will use as a CAP Cadet Officer and once I get commission as a US Army Officer and serve this country that has offered me so much, which is my main career goal.

Now for the biggest reason for my request, here is a little information about myself: I arrived to the USA at the age of 12 yrs old with barely anything. My first big obstacle was learning to speak and write the English language fluently, which took about two years. Furthermore, I first started living in a basement with my mom, sister and I. Then one of my mom's friend was fortunate to offer the three of us a room, where we all slept in. At one point, I had to wake up an hour early before all my classmates and walk a mile every morning, in the winter, just to get to the bus stop. Later we moved to a nicer house but unluckily full of insects, which was not so bad. Sadly the worst part about all the moving for my sister was when we both had to share a room. All in all I was fortunate enough to have a single-mother that worked full-time and provided all the requirements we needed to live. My mom has always been there to push me to have high academic grades, reach my future goals, and be somebody worthy of a big opportunity in life. Up to this point I have learn the English language fluently, achieved the highest awards in my Air Force JROTC career, achieved the Mitchell Award and now Cadet Commander in Civil Air Patrol, graduated high school with honors, became a US citizen, completed over 60 hrs of volunteer service, and finally got accepted to the Early Commissioning Program at Valley Forge Military College. This is only the beginning and I am determined to be somebody in life so that I can be able to provide support to my mother and make her proud!

However, it was around the fall of 2012 that things changed. My mom started suffering severe back pain. The pain was so serious doctors did not medical clear her for work. This was when she only started to receive 60% of her actual paycheck. For a time we were again in a financial crisis so at some points my mom had to get loans to pay off the bills. Luckily now she feels less pain than before and she has started going back to work. Not also that but she is also going to school, again. And this is where I ask for your help. Financially, most of my family's means and the money from my part time job, have gone towards needs of the house and ways for me to help her out. To be able to spend those 10 days living out a small piece of my dream would be valuable to me beyond words. Any money from my part time position at a my part time job I work for has been set aside to pay for airfare, living costs, and any remaining fees. Anything you could give would be greatly appreciated. Here are the costs broken-down:

Tuition School: $450
Airplane to Maxwell, AL: $400
Other Expenses: $ 25. Packing list gear (only to get knee pads and eye glasses straps) If somebody has some spare ones, will be really appreciate it.

Deadline that has been issued to me for Payment is April 15, 2014.

Even if I do not raise all the money I need, any small help will be AMAZINGLY APPRECIATED. If I do get the opportunity to attend I promise I will do my best to perform at the highest standards possible. I hope anybody that is reading this will consider helping me to attend this school and allow me to be a step closer to realize my dreams.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and consider my plight.
