Capoeira Besouro needs to move to a new space!

Dear Friends,

The lease on our studio space in Venice ends on July 31, and we cannot renew it because the landlord has an offer from someone to lease the space and pay 30% more per month than we currently pay. Also, the landlord does not want to rent to a business that might shut down during a pandemic. Finally, we have had ongoing noise issues with the store next door that would require a significant investment to fix.

THE GOOD NEWS is that we found a wonderful space in Santa Monica -- a stand-alone building with no common walls in a great location that we are excited about! It also has an enclosed outdoor space that is ours to use. We are waiting on a business license and are almost ready to sign a new lease.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Our studio is still recovering (financially) from over two years of COVID restrictions. We love seeing so many kids and adults coming back to class and new students coming through our doors and joining our community. However, we were not anticipating this move--we had planned to renew our lease for another five years after holding onto the space during the pandemic. To move into the new space, we need to paint, install mirrors, and move our floor. (Fortunately, unlike the last move, we do not have to wait on all sorts of permits and construction, so we anticipate being able to move from one location to another within one week.)

We estimate that our total cost to move will be around $20-25,000. We appreciate any support, no matter the amount, that people can contribute to help us make this move to a new space that we can call home for our community.
