Capsized Senior Loses Everything

Andrea Ania had planned a quiet trip to Catalina Island on his 32' Islander when a 20' wave changed his life and turned a pleasure sail into a disaster.  He was thrown into the water and under his boat where his right leg was cut by the propeller and his hands were sliced hanging onto the rigging. The 63 year old had to swim to shore with his injuries and at one point thought he was a goner. Andrea has moored his boat in San Diego for 6 months while he readied his boat for a once-in-a-lifetime trip South thru the Panama Canel, across the Atlantic to remote islands to share The Gospel.  Andrea said " it has been my lifetime goal to make this trip and thought it had all changed."

UPDATE: Now a few months later Andrea has come a long way in his recovery with his wound on his foot 75% healed, his broken right hand, about 80% healed but fully operable, his left hand where his tenders were severed and reconnected by operation is now 50% operable.

Andrea has been shopping and now has an accepted offer on a 1980 Cheoy Lee 35ft Sailboat
He is seeking additional funds to fully pay the remaining balance of $20,000 to fully pay it off and have complete ownership and new home. Andrea plans to be docked in San Diego at Marina Cortez When he is 100% healed or close to 100%!he will continue on his Sailing adventure across the Atlantic to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and needing youth on remote Islands.
