Capt. Roy and Terry Woodard Hurricane Matthew Recovery fund - Tybee Island, Georgia
My name is Doris Woodard, with my sisters Teresa Nelson and Angie Woodard we are setting up this Go Fund Me account to help our parents recover from the devastation left behind from hurricane Matthew. Our dad who is an original Tybeeite, grew up on the island and met my mom when he was in the Army and based in Puerto Rico. Our parents have been married 58 years.
Our father, at 81, is one of the oldest Captains still running a Shrimp boat. He has been in the industry over 40 years. When hurricane Matthew impacted Tybee it not only affected their home, which flooded, but it caused the loss of his 35 foot shrimp boat, Las Ninas, whose name means The Girls. The boat is upside down in the water at Lazaretto Creek down on Tybee Island. It is believed the boat can be salvaged if it can be raised. Their Seafood Market also flooded with 3 feet of water which caused the loss of 2 of their freezers and thousands of dollars worth of product. We are hoping to raise funds to assist with the cost of raising the boat and repairing it, as well getting their business and home, which suffered water damage downstairs, back in order. He is a very proud man and not inclined to ask for help, but they could use the money as soon as possible. Even though we know he and mom are resilient and strong, it is more than they can do on their own.
My sisters and I would like to thank everyone for their assistance and prayers during this challenging time.
