Captain Rainbow - Superhero Comedy Short Film

When superhero Captain Rainbow learns of his given title “the gay superhero,” he must grapple with this projected identity, all while saving the city from his arch-nemesis.

This story is being made by a passionate team of filmmakers helmed by the Alexes - namely, writer and producer Alex Harlow and director Alex Blair. The Alexes are full time students at the University of Central Arkansas where they have crafted short films that showcase their skill and creativity in the filmmaking world. Harlow is a lover of comedy, who has made films that not only have well crafted and crowd pleasing jokes, but real heart and morals as well. His recent work, Frankie, following a teenaged Frankenstein’s monster, received praise not only for its lovable characters, but its eclectic and memorable comedy, earning it an audience choice award for the best comedy short at the UCA short film screening. Blair is a director/producer who works primarily in the genres of thriller and action, with experience working on projects with larger sets and ambitious production design. His latest short, Cubicle, which follows a young man who physically cannot escape from his office building after staying late, utilized a massive office space with vast production design to bring his vision to life. The film has played at five film festivals so far across the country, winning Best Picture at one of them. Our wider team consists of a diverse group of talented and accomplished filmmakers who are bringing all their talents together to create a film that will resonate with audiences of any age or background.
