Off-duty FF good deed, injured, truck &boat stolen
Donation protected
On October 5th, James Troutman was driving with a friend when a head-on car accident happened directly in front of him. As an off-duty firefighter, James acted immediately and pulled his truck over to see how he could offer help to the occupants of both vehicles. While at the scene, the driver of one of the vehicles jumped into James' truck attempting to use it to flee the scene. James realized what was happening, tried to stop the carjacker but was unable, and was injured in the process.
James is now unable to work for an extended period of time due to the injury. On top of that, his boat that was in tow behind his truck was found later, scrapped and stripped of almost everything. Friends and family close to James know - if James isn't at work, there's a good chance he's out on his boat fishing. While insurance will cover some of the losses, much of the stolen fishing equipment will have to be out of pocket. James is also expecting to be out of work for several months now.
James was doing the right thing and had good intent, but sadly was rewarded with some misfortune. Let's reverse that misfortune with helping hands and ensure he knows his fellow citizens appreciate the kind of person James is, and his willingness to help others.
