Captain's Appalachian Trail FKT!
Donation protected
Flooding in Maine has put a hold on Kristian's fastest known time attempt. (Please watch the news report in the video). Each week delayed is costing Kristian $2000 in expenses.
Last year over 60,000 people followed Kristian's journey via our live tracker if you were one of these people or intend to follow Kristian this year please consider helping with these unexpected expenses by making a small donation and sharing this GoFundMe.
Kristian Morgan, aka The Captain, will be embarking southbound from Mount Katahdin in Maine on a fastest-known time attempt. The task before him is enormous. The AT is epic, rugged, and unforgiving; Kristian will traverse a punishing variety of terrain, from remote mountain ranges requiring mastery of technical running to stretches of swampy singletrack requiring speed, efficiency, and everything in between.
Kristian will be running two full marathons per day for 40 consecutive days and climbing the equivalent of 16 Everests in the process. He will literally be pushing the human body further than ever before - expanding the boundaries of human endurance. If anyone can achieve a new speed record for the AT, it’s Kristian. In July 2022, he became the second fastest man alive to complete the AT, faster than ultrarunning legends Scott Jurek and Karl Meltzer, the latter of whom has won more 100-mile races than anyone in the history of the sport.
Kristian persevered through the depths of physical and psychological challenges that are hard to articulate and achieved the second fastest known time ever. But his drive was unsatiated, and he developed logistical and athletic confidence from prior attempts that culminated in a commitment to try again.
In addition to finishing the AT in 2022, Kristian spent two weeks pacing for Karel Sabbe’s FKT in 2018 and has completed several long sections of the trail. He has logged 4,378 miles and 930,000 feet of vertical gain on the AT. In short, Kristian’s experience and knowledge of the trail are unparalleled.
Your help is appreciated!!
