3 weeks to freedom stymied by MVA
Don protégé
I am reaching out to ask for help to get us through the next 6 weeks, until I can start driving for a living.
After 6 years of being a single mother and self-employed massage therapist, choosing poverty in order to be present in my daughter's life, and still having other people (see teachers) raise her the majority of the time, I decided to give up my massage practice to become a truck driver. I found a company that wil permit me to have my daughter with me full-time, allowing me to homeschool her, being a full-time mom and full-time bread winner. My training could be starting as soon as next Monday, January 16, or January 23.
In order to have my bills covered while I attend truck driving school for three weeks, I busted my butt for a month working as a driver for Lyft, driving 50 hours a week, plus transporting my daughter to Greeley and Littelton to be with family while I did.
I immediately went back to delivering for Amazon Flex, as to continue padding my nest egg, and on my first run out, a woman ran a stop sign and our car slid into hers. My car was officially totalled, and because it had 312,000 miles on it, the insurance company gave a rather small check.
My body's injuries were minor but enough to make me unable to do any massage and so far, unable to driver for more than an hour. I continue to drive my totalled car with a new radiator and a bungeed hood (all thanks to an old friend who selflessly and miraculously showed up when needed.)
So , as I said in the beginning, I am reaching out to ask for help to get us through the next 6 weeks, until I can start driving for a living.
***My dreams are much bigger than this however. One day, I will have a Tiny House Village. A self-sustaining, nearly off the grid fam that teaches people how to care for gardens, cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, etc., how to make their own preserves, cheeses and butters, and how to build their own tiny house. It will be a dark sky preserve with a now-waste grocery store. No automobile traffic on the grounds, only an ATV or two for transporting heavy objects. It will be a safe space for children and the elderly. A place for foster kids, transitioning into adult life, to live, learn life skills and job skills and have a family like community they can lean on in hard times.
I am looking for land, skilled volunteers, and connections to the right people. Please get in contact with me if you want to know more, or be a part of this project. While driving truck is not ideal, it is a place for me to start paying off debt, improving my credit score, saving money and seeing more areas that might provide the right space to grow on.
