Car Crashed Into Our Family Room
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ben. I’m a working man - a family man, and my wife and I just had our 4th child a few weeks ago (I delivered her myself in our home).
After putting all of our savings into a downpayment on our first house less than a year ago and paying medical bills out of pocket, we got a little behind on a few bills, primarily our car note.
All of this led to an event our family would never have imagined…
A tow truck arrived at our house Wednesday afternoon to repossess our only vehicle. Though I attempted to work out a resolution with the loan provider, the tow truck driver hooked the vehicle and the situation could not be reversed. I collected our car seats and valuables from the car and went back downstairs to work. Seconds later I heard a huge boom and the sounds of glass shattering. I ran upstairs to see my wife picking up our one-year-old who was within a foot or two of the collision. Our car was now in our living room.
The tow truck driver mistakenly dropped our car at the top of the driver and it rolled right into our house knocking in a wall and window and our furniture.
Ultimately we were left without a car or home as the house was deemed uninhabitable. We've spent a couple days in a hotel so far, but we’ve been told that the repairs on the house will take about 3 weeks.
We are in need of a place to stay and we’ve incurred expenses as a result of being displaced for a time. Most importantly, we need a car.
Like many Americans, we’ve been living check to check for a long time, and we were unprepared for a situation like this. Right now, we need all the help we can get to afford living accommodations, a family vehicle and additional expenses. Thank you for your generosity.
