Car engine is dead, can’t afford bills
Donation protected
My name is Grant Johnson (he/they). I’m autistic, and recently graduated from UMich. My car engine died as I left to move cross-country and the replacement estimate of $7-8K is far beyond anything I can afford, let alone most of my upcoming bills. Since I’ve graduated I have no access to financial aid to make ends meet until I begin my degree at CalArts in September. The engine is being paid for with a loan to spread out the cost. I currently have about $40 between my bank accounts. I donate plasma twice a week and work part-time/remotely but it’s still not enough. I thankfully have friends who are letting me stay with them in the meantime.
There are much bigger issues in the world than mine for sure, but if you’re willing to help anything is appreciated. Even a small amount makes a big difference as many of my upcoming bills are smaller individually. Thanks so much for reading.
I share about my experiences as an autistic person and systemic/interpersonal ableism through my project This is a Tangible Space. I will be taking this project to CalArts to develop it further and broaden its impact. More info here: https://grantjohnsonperc.com/tangiblespace
