What is “Car Therapy” about?
Have you ever seen the meme “Parked car conversations are low-key therapy sessions?” Well this is one of the things that inspired this series. I’ve had some of my best and worst conversations in a car, and in talking to people, that seems to be a common thing.
Car Therapy is a slice-of-life web series about A down-on-her-luck college therapist who decides to drive for a ride sharing app to make ends meet during a pandemic. On her rides, she is exposed to new people and new parts of LA and always ends up dishing advice, whether solicited or not.
Not only do we need more black stories on screen, we need to have these conversations surrounding mental health. It is slowly breaking out of the taboo category in the black community- and I want to use my series to shed more light on it, in a comedic way. This isn’t intended to throw textbook diagnosis around, but to have real conversations about how each character vents, reacts, or explores a different side of the human experience.
Join me on this incredible JOURNEY of FRIENDSHIP, THERAPY, and car rides and TOGETHER we will make something SPECIAL. Won’t you come along for the ride ;)
This series was filmed October 2020 but we have to raise the rest of the money to get the project completed. Post-production costs A LOT and what helps elevate an already dope story!

About The Creator:
For the past two years, I’ve been immersed in comedy writing. I’ve written on a few sitcoms and am constantly inspired by all of the talented work of black creatives. But we still need more! More female comedy writers, more black comedies, more black and brown actors on screen. That is what I plan on delivering with my series, Car Therapy.
In typical black woman fashion, I am running most of this series on my own- as writer/director/producer. But I won’t be able to do this all alone. In order to reach this goal, I’m asking for your help! That takes a lot for me to say, but film is a COLLABORATIVE effort and I want all my projects to be done RIGHT. And while I do love wearing my different hats, community contribution is what this production needs to take it to the BEST level! ANY and ALL amounts help :)
TOGETHER, we can FINISH this BLACK FEMALE LED PRODUCTION and bring it to life!
