HELP KERPA SAVE LIVES!
Support our Fundraising Campaign for a RESPONSE VEHICLE!
The Kootenay Emergency Response Physician Association (KERPA) was founded with a simple purpose – to help critically ill and injured patients in our communities. We do this by supporting volunteer pre-hospital trained physician Nic Sparrow as he assists the emergency services responding to critical 911 calls. Over the last four years Dr. Sparrow has responded to over 280 critical 911 calls as a volunteer Community Response Doctor in the Nelson area.
Dr. Sparrow currently responds in his personal vehicle and covers all his insurance and maintenance expenses. While this has worked in the past, a dedicated vehicle will have numerous benefits.
After much deliberation, the KERPA Board of Directors has decided to pursue purchasing a vehicle to increase the safety and sustainability of the program. Additionally, we hope to apply for a Red Lights and Sirens Permit, which is only possible with a society owned vehicle. We have already identified the vehicle we hope to purchase which is specifically designed and equipped for medical response, including appropriate safety features, dual batteries and secure shelving to store medical equipment and oxygen.
The total costs for the vehicle are $37,500.00.
We have applied for the Community Initiatives & Affected Area Programs grant funding to cover part of this cost ($22,500). We are hoping to obtain this grant and will hear in May / June 2018 as to whether KERPA has been successful.
However, we will still need to raise $15,000 to get this vehicle home to Nelson and ready for operations. We need your help to raise these additional funds!
You can help in the following ways:
1. Donate financially to KERPA through our website www.kerpa.org / Facebook page / via a cheque
2. Host a fundraising event
3. Consider being a corporate sponsor for our vehicle (please contact us for our sponsorship package [email redacted])
4. Help us get the vehicle to Nelson, BC. This vehicle is currently located on the East Coast of Canada and we would like to unveil it on Canada Day at Lakeside Park in Nelson, BC.
Our Kootenay communities have been incredibly generous in the past, enabling us to purchase life-saving equipment like our new portable ultra sound. As we move ahead as an organization we warmly thank you for any donation you can make towards our Response Vehicle Fundraising Campaign.
For more information, you can contact us directly at [email redacted] or by phone through our website
(Please note, KERPA is a registered non-profit Society but unfortunately is not yet a registered charity and is unable to provide tax deductible receipts at this time)
