Cardiac Ablation for an SVT
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Chloe, I’m a 32 year old science teacher from Essex but now living in Hampshire, UK. I have a young son of 20 months and my partner is Alex.
On 3rd May this year I started developing worrying symptoms; palpitations which then also turned to dizziness and chest pain. Between the 3rd May and 20th May I visited my local A&E department 5 times with these symptoms, I had an ECG and bloods done each time and was sent away told I was suffering from stress and anxiety. The only person to take me seriously and caught the palpitations was a paramedic at my local surgery who got me referred for a 24 hour ECG. There was a 47 week wait for this and I was highly symptomatic and did not know whether the arrhythmia I had was life threatening. I decided to get a private 7 day ECG and as a result I have been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia called an SVT (probably AVNRT) and is a generally benign but in my case really debilitating cardiac condition. In the period of 5 days that the holter monitor was on I had upwards of 350 episodes of my heart going out of rhythm and sometimes beating above 200bpm.
My cardiologist has recommended an ablation which is a procedure to get rid of the extra circuit of electricity. The wait time for a procedure on the NHS is upwards of 6 months and in the meantime I an unable to drive, work or effectively look after my son which has obviously taken a significant toll on my life, family and mental health already. I am looking at having a private procedure done quickly, but it will cost around £13,000 and having already spent just short of £1000 on an ECG and an echocardiogram, this will be weighty for us as a family. I have an initial appointment with a consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital next week. If anyone is able to donate to support me in helping me pay for this procedure I would very much appreciate it. The tiniest donations are so very gratefully received.
Thanks very much
Chloe
