Cardiff Half Marathon for Velindre.
Myself and my son Max will be running the 2024 Cardiff Half Marathon in October to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre. Velindre provides specialist cancer services to over 1.5 million people in and around South East Wales and is a charity very close to our hearts.
At the start of the year my niece, Kirsty, was diagnosed with T2N1 Breast Cancer. The team at Velindre have looked after Kirsty throughout her journey so far and the care has been second to none. There is still a long way to go in her journey but with Velindre care and team of people she is in the best of hands.
We will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon as a sign of our appreciation to everyone within Velindre for everything they have done for our family and every other family which has been impacted by this terrible illness.
All donations are appreciated no matter how big or small and will go a long way towards the fight against cancer.

"Please check yourselves. During the end of last year I felt a lump, not thinking much of it until I took a visit to Out of Hours. The resources weren't available for a scan in the three visits I went for due to the time of year. Thanks to my incredible aunty I didn't give up, I was referred to the amazing one stop breast clinic, run by the most amazing surgeon, Dr Zoe Barber. Since then, I've endured 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and a double mastectomy along with my left side lymph nodes. During this time everyone I came into contact with at Velindre hospital have made my journey so much less stressful, so when my uncle and cousin told me they would be fundraising for a charity of my choice, it was an easy decision. Any help for this incredible cause will be greatly appreciated."
