Hi, I'm Sean's mom. We desperately need funds to help Sean with the high cost of saving his life. He fell from the rafters in a barn to the ground on his back and head. His injuries were severe enough that the paramedics had him airlifted to Dothan, Ga hospital one hour away by car. After stabilizing him, Sean was taken by helicopter to Birmingham, Ga, hospital because of his life-threatening injuries for specialists there. On arrival at UBA (University Hospital of Birmingham, Alabama), Doctors cut open his skull and operated on his brain. Because the brain was bleeding within the Doctors also put in two shunts to drain the swelling.
Sean has been in Intensive Care for seven days and has been under sedation throughout, unable to open his eyes or talk. The fall fractured Sean's eye socket, his inner ear was damaged, and he suffered a tear in an artery. Repairs will be made to his artery as soon as he is stable; meanwhile, he has a drain in place. The Doctors feel that Sean's fractured ribs, spine and Clavicle should heal by themselves. He has had a low fever, and now he has pneumonia.
Doctors will remove the oxygen tube from his throat and give him a Tracheotomy to facilitate less aggravation to his punctured lungs. Sean has a feeding tube in his throat that will re-route through his nose.
Those who know Sean know that he is selfless and reaches out to help other people and animals. He never turns away strays or animals that are left at his farm. He provides food and shelter for them and gets them medical care. If he can keep them he does, if not, he finds them new homes. His gentle giving spirit is what is so special about my precious son.
God has answered our prayers because Sean is getting the best possible care. But his wife doesn't know how they will afford the cost of all this wonderful medical care because they have no health insurance. Any possible monetary help is greatly appreciated.
