Care for Abandoned Raccoons and Coyotes
Tax deductible
Recently, Exotic Pet Wonderland took in several animals in need of critical care. These animals, including seven raccoons and two coyotes, came from a situation involving a breeder who had previously been involved in large-scale exotic pet breeding. The breeder allegedly engaged in severe neglect and mistreatment of animals, including failing to meet basic care standards and providing misleading information to buyers about the animals' suitability as pets.
Over time, allegations arose about practices such as starving animals, failing to address injuries or illnesses, allowing animals to “self-cull” through fighting and other inhumane destruction of animals, and neglecting proper safety protocols to prevent disease outbreaks. Earlier this year, the breeder relinquished their USDA license but allegedly continued to sell exotic animals without proper authorization.
Most recently, the person responsible reportedly abandoned a significant number of animals, including raccoons, coyotes, and wolf dogs, leaving them in the care of others with promises of financial support that never materialized. Many of the other animals belonging to the breeder, including non-native wild cats, lemurs, and wolf dogs, disappeared, and some animal remains were found on the breeder's property.
The raccoons that came to us suffer from missing fingers and toes, torn ears, and other injuries likely caused by years of inadequate care and confinement in tiny cages. The coyotes look to be battling a parasitic infection and exhibit signs of significant trauma. These animals were used solely for breeding and lived in conditions comparable to a puppy mill where they never experienced life outside cramped enclosures.
Today, we are asking for your help with the costs of vet care, specialized enclosures, food, and ongoing rehabilitation for these animals. Additionally, as the animals were used for commercial pet breeding, they are all intact. Spaying/neutering them to prevent any additional litters will be a substantial cost. Your support will give them the second chance they deserve.
Please consider donating to Exotic Pet Wonderland to support these animals on their path to recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can give them the love and care they were denied for so long.
Thank you for standing with us and these animals in need.
