Care for Abby

Abby is 13 years old.

In early 2021, she contracted pneumonia.  The following August, her right lung collapsed.

I rushed her to the ER, and they put her in the ICU.  Turns out, her pneumonia was necrotizing, meaning it was killing her lung tissue and poking her lung full of holes.

She's been in and out of hospitals in Springfield and St. Louis since then.

This time, we've been in the hospital since February 23rd, where they performed a surgery to remove a third of her lung in hopes of saving the rest.  She's had chest tubes installed in her lung that lead out her back to catch the air that her lung is leaking into her chest cavity.

At the time of writing, she has had two surgeries to address the air leaks, with another scheduled this week.

Of course, she doesn't want to be in the ICU alone, especially when the hospital is four hours of driving away from home.

She needs me to stay with her.  I can't leave her.

I just need to keep my head above water so that Abby has a home to go back to once this is all over.

Donations will pay rent, utilities, car insurance, and other essential bills so that I can continue to stay with her here in St. Louis, and to ensure that when it's finally time to go home again, we still have one.
