February 17, my dear friend Robin received a phone call every mother dreads. Jesse Michl, her son, was involved in a serious accident and had been airlifted to a Trauma Hospital out of state with a spinal cord injury. She left home in the middle of the night and has been by his side ever since. Jesse had two spinal fusion surgeries days after the accident, surgery to repair two damaged arteries, and will be in the hospital for an indefinite period of time as he progresses through his rehabilitation. Robin has had to leave work to be by his side and will be helping him recover, full time, for the next 6+ months. She is her own sole provider and without working will not be able to support herself.
