Care Like Kim

On December 12, 2023 Kim Cluff was at home with two of her children, sitting at the table with her daughter, when she collapsed and went into sudden cardiac arrest. By that night she was transferred to Ogden Regional Hospital. The first four weeks of her stay in the ICU were a mixture of sacred, scary, and hopeful moments as family and friends waited with bated breath for her to show signs of healing. Most of her time in the hospital during that time was spent in a medically induced coma while her loved ones visited daily, prayed, and waited patiently holding onto hope that that rest was just what she needed to heal.

On December 29th she was able to have a pacemaker and defibrillator put in as well as receive a tracheotomy, which seemed to be a turning point in her recovery. Within days of these procedures she began to respond at an almost astounding rate compared to her previous progression pace. Within days she was able to go from being able to smile and give “okay” signs with her hands to walking and talking, remembering everyone that came to visit, loving on her family and being the sweet and caring Kim that she has always been. Miraculously Kim was able to come home on January 23rd.

Kim is an incredible mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend to all. She has an exceptional ability to make everyone in her presence feel loved, heard, understood, and accepted. Her ability to love and make time for everyone in her life is truly unmatched. She also loves her dog Winny, is a plant enthusiast, loves movies, music, outdoors, yoga, hiking, and traveling.

She graduated last spring with her bachelor’s degree in social work and was accepted to and had planned on starting her Master’s in Social Work this January. She was both an intern and employee at the Family Place and loves working with all of the great people there.

Her husband, Randy, is an English teacher at Ridgeline High School and they have three wonderful children. Family is everything to Kim and Randy and they are an amazing team.

With the mound of hospital bills that are now starting to come in, we want to help make sure that finances are not an additional stress for them. Randy missed several weeks of work, they went from two incomes to one income, and the hospital bills are quickly rolling in, while more are accumulating as she continues to need doctor appointments and physical therapy to continue to heal. We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help her and her family during this time of need. They do so much to serve their loved ones and their community, we hope that you will consider giving to this great cause and help ease this burden for them.
