Care Packages for PR Students
Donation protected
For the past several years several of us from the University of Maryland have partnered with institutions in Puerto Rico to engage early undergraduate students in marine science. This work is encompassed in the "Centro Tortuga" that is currently funded by NSF. This year, we have 34 students and two colleagues in Puerto Rico involved in this program that have been greatly affected by Hurricane Maria. This fundraiser is an attempt to raise some funds to send care packages to the students that will include solar operated fans and flashlights as well as insect repellent. This is being carried out on a personal level - outside of the official work that we do there. A flashlight, fan, and repellent will cost $37 for each student. Thanks so much for helping us with this goal!
